ROAD CLOSURE ON 14 - 16 OCTOBER 2011 FOR PUTRAJAYA NIGHT MARATHON
* Stretches of Putrajaya roads and bridges closed for 10,000 Putrajaya Night Marathon runners.
* Closure of roads conducted in stages at different times.
* Motorists advised to find alternatives and follow traffic police signs.
Putrajaya, 12 October 2011 - Come the night of this Saturday 15 October 2011, the roads, bridges and boulevards of Putrajaya will be temporary closed for the only sanctioned night marathon in Malaysia, the Putrajaya Night Marathon (PNM) 2011.
The organiser of Putrajaya Night Marathon, Twenty First Century Sports has collaborated closely with Ibupejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Putrajaya to cordon off selected precincts of Putrajaya to facilitate the marathon and ensure the safety of the 10,000 runners expected for the run.
The roads will be closed in stages with the main stretch in front of Perbadanan Labuan and Palace of Justice to be the one that is most affected.

IPD Putrajaya is also taking steps to ensure safety of volunteers and runners with the use of 500 water barriers. Some 1,000 traffic cones will be deployed to separate runners from traffic flow at the required areas.
With more than 10,000 people comprising runners, supporters and various other volunteers and parties involved, a space that can accommodate 3,000 cars at Laman Satu Malaysia has been dedicated to cater to the parking needs. The organiser has allocated 10 men to manage and direct traffic at the large car park.
The Full Marathon will be the first of 4 categories to flag-off at 8:00pm while the Half Marathon begins at 8:20pm. The 10km Marathon and 5km Run will begin at 8:40pm and 9:00pm. Runners of all four categories are anticipated to make it pass the finish line by 2:00am.
Working closely with the IPD Putrajaya, Twenty First Century Sports is doing its best to ensure that runners will receive the best for their safety.
"Putrajaya Night Marathon has always been about the runners. We want them to enjoy the run without disturbances. We want them to have a secure environment to run in, which means not having to dodge or watch out for vehicles on the road," Mr Nithiaseelan Vegayathunam, Race Director of Putrajaya Night Marathon 2011 said.
Nithiaseelan added that although the official cut-off time of PNM 2011 is at 2:00am, the crew and race marshals will not leave until the last runner crosses the finish line.
