OCBC Cycle Malaysia will come to Kuala Lumpur again this January – Join us for The Ride Of Your Life!

Event owner and organiser, Spectrum Worldwide and title sponsor, OCBC Bank will provide Malaysia with an exciting cycling experience in Kuala Lumpur once again this January.

It is Malaysia’s only mass participation cycling event on closed, public roads in Kuala Lumpur which caters to all level of cyclists. OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2013 intends to reach out to the entire family with a new venue and a range of categories so “Anyone Can Ride!” Everyone is encouraged to participate in this weekend cycling experience and visit the pre/post-ride carnival events.

OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2013 will provide something for everyone; serious cyclists can prove themselves in The Challenge, a demanding 48km ride. More leisurely is the 24km Community Ride for family and friends, as well as children’s rides and a kid’s carnival. For the first time there will also be a special category for Foldies with the 24km Foldies Community Ride.

In October 2011, cycling mania swept through Kuala Lumpur for the first time, as thousands of cyclists got on their bikes and rode through the heart of the city in the inaugural OCBC Cycle Malaysia. More than 3,500 participants registered for the three-day cycling extravaganza, the largest mass-participation cycling event to be held on closed roads in Malaysia.

Cycling For A Cure 2011 - Tabung Leukimia YSD

Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD), in collaboration with the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF), are hosting a charity cycling event called the Cycling for A Cure: Tabung Leukemia YSD. We invite YOU to come and cycle with us to raise the much needed fund.

This charity ride aims to raise funds for Leukemia patients in Malaysia who cannot afford the high cost of Leukemia treatments. This fund will be made available to Malaysian teenagers and adults, between the ages of 13 to 72 years old, who are in dire need of bone marrow transplant. Selected patients will undergo comprehensive treatment available at the Blood Diseases Centre of Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya (SDMCSJ) Sdn. Bhd. YSD will match ringgit to ringgit for the funds raised during this event.

You will have the opportunity to cycle with Mohd. Azizulhasni Awang, a prominent Malaysian icon and a member of the YSD Track Cycling Team, who is also the ambassador of the Tabung Leukemia YSD. Other YSD Track Cyclists namely Josiah Ng, Mohd Rizal Tisin, Muhammad Edrus Md Yunos, Mohamad Hafiz Mohamed Sufian and Fatehah Mustapa will also join the race.
Since the whole event is aimed to raise money for Leukemia patients in Malaysia, each participant is required to pay a participation fee of RM50, and the amount will be contributed to the Tabung Leukemia YSD. Interested participants need to download and complete the registration form and return or fax it to YSD by 23 September 2011.

Jelajah Malaysia 2011

Jelajah Malaysia is the oldest bicycle race in Malaysia and it is ranked 2.2 class by UCI (Union Cyclist Internationale). Since its inception in 1963, Jelajah Malaysia is slowly and steadily beginning to be one of the most prestigious bicycle race amongst Asian and International teams.
Through wide coverage that is empowered by local and international media, Jelajah Malaysia had proven itself as an important event in promoting Malaysia to the world as a tourism and leisure destination.
It is a platform for young Malaysian riders to compete and gain valuable experience in a cycling race. Currently many riders that is representing Malaysia now starts from their participation in the Jelajah Malaysia and the number of Malaysian riders that is accepted into international teams had increased. The exposure through Jelajah Malaysia makes the Malaysian rider a great bicycle rider for the future.
Jelajah Malaysia for 2010 will start from Selangor through Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perlis with 5 stages from 27th April to 1st May 2010; Jelajah Malaysia will have a criterium one day race after that in Langkawi Island on 2nd May, 2010.
At all the START and FINISH, the organizer will create mini carnivals which will incorporate recreational and entertainment activities and also exhibition site for Government and Private sector to display their goods and services. It is envisaged that a local crowd between 10,000 to 15,000 people will participate in these festivities.
The Organiser also realizes that it is important to promote the event to the nation, these side events will be telecast nationally so that the whole nation will be able to see the local culture that is on display either live or delayed. The Organiser believe in giving value back for Sponsor’s contribution for the event. In terms of sponsor benefits, the Organiser will provide maximum exposure locally and internationally. With technical branding items, advertising materials, promotions and air time slot, all sponsors should be satisfied with the returns for their investment.

LeTua 100km Cycling 2011
