Speaking at a recent press conference at the event’s official hotel, the historic Eastern & Oriental (E&O), State Youth, Sports, Women, Family and Community Development committee chairman Lydia Ong Kok Fooi said many parties were eagerly anticipating the walk due to its fun and relaxed nature.
"It is great for family and community bonding, as there are long hours to walk and chat among each other. Moreover, it promotes a healthy, active lifestyle towards a harmonious community.
There will also be entertainment in the form of a live band and gamelan performances, as well as teh tarik and roti canai demonstrations" Ong said, adding that they hoped to attract between 1,000 and 1,500 participants.
P. Podimhatia, honorary secretary of co-organisers Penang Veteran Athletes Association, said the highlights include sumptuous food provided by E&O as well as a lucky draw at the end.
"Those who complete at least 10 laps will also get a special certificate" he added.
