Furry Friends Farm “Walk for Harmony“ is a fundraising event by our Dr Dog programmes.
On the 1st of May 2010, Animals Asia therapy dogs will join mentally disabled and special children from those organisations served by Dr Dog, as well as the general public, in a “walk for harmony”.
Together, people and dogs alike will walk around Damansara Jaya Town Center i.e. surrounding roads of THE ATRIA,Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, to promote the harmonious bond between humans and animals. Furry Friends Farm invites members of the public to support this worthwhile cause by joining the walk, either as participants or sponsors.

Background
Furry Friends Farm – runs a number of projects, including our innovative animal-therapy programme, Dr Dog. Dr Dogs visited homes for the elderly, disabled centres and orphanages across Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan, spreading unconditional love and warmth to people in need, while highlighting the positive role that companion animals can play in society.

KEEP yourself free on June 6 this year for one of Perak’s most popular and exciting annual events - the Ipoh Starwalk.

The walk, which is a fun-filled family outing for many people, will be flagged off from Stadium Indera Mulia on that day.
Those interested to sign up for the event can do so from tomorrow at the The Star’s Ipoh office at 39 Jalan Hussein (05-2530402). Registration is open until May 17 from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, except public holidays.
Look out for the entry form in StarMetro on Mondays from April 26. Postal entries will not be entertained.
There will be two categories - non-competition and competition - with both covering 10km.
The competition category is divided into nine groups: Men and Women for those aged 20 and above but less than 40; Men’s Junior Veteran (40 and above but less than 50); Men’s Senior Veteran (50 and above but less than 60); Men’s Diamond Veteran (60 and above); Women’s Veteran (40 and above but less than 50); Women’s Senior Veteran (50 and above); and Boys and Girls (13 and above but less than 20 for both). The total entries for the competition category is limited to 2,000 participants.
The top three winners in each group of the competition category will receive cash prizes. There will also be pewter prizes for the top 50 winners in the Boys and Girls groups, the top 25 winners in the Men and Women’s groups and the top 10 winners in the other groups.
Entry fee for non-competition walkers is RM8 per person while competition walkers will be charged RM12 each. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag.
The walk will be flagged off from Stadium Indera Mulia at 7am for the competiton category and 7.15am for the non-competition category.
Those who complete the walk within 100 minutes will be eligible for a lucky contest that offers attractive prizes and a participation certificate each.
Book vouchers worth RM700, RM500 and RM300 will be given to the three schools with the highest number of entries respectively.
Ipoh Starwalk 2010 is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the Ipoh City Council with the co-operation of the Perak Government, the Perak Amateur Athletics Association and Perak Education Department in conjunction with Ipoh city’s 22nd anniversary.
Milo, Magnum, Pallas, DiGi and 100Plus have signed up as main sponsors so far. Red FM is the official radio station.

11th Bakam Challenge 2010

The annual Bakam Off-road Biathlon is back again this year. Every year, this is a promising event to be held in May, in conjunction with the Miri Mayfest 2010...another year of fun means another year of challenge!
No doubt, the annual Bakam Challenge has been one of the most challenge ever here in Borneo for the past 10 years. With last year (2009) marked it's 10th anniversary, this year Bakam Challenge is looking forward to another year of pain, struggle, determination and competitiveness from competitors of all level.
The Borneo island has been known for it's tropical rainforest diversity and rough terrain. With the event being held annually in Miri, the terrain has provided the most unexpected challenges for competitors to encounter; 30km mountain biking & 12km trail running/trekking, and challenges come along with the high humidity and scorching heat of the tropics. The courses are set differently every year, with little expectation for competitors, this is a promising event of an unforgetable adventure!

Special thanks to kr1 above for the posting and sharing of ideas...................
Alright, lets touch a bit on the concept. It was derived from a barcode concept. It consists of a member of vertical strips with various thickness and length. This represents 'fei, kou, ai, sow'(haha) and in english, it calls fat, tall, short, skinny dip which best represents the natural body build up sizes of our team member. Currently it's only one colour as our members are all chinese. Who knows, in future it will evolves into various colours where we might have indians, malays, mix or probably bangalies. When take a closer look at the barcode, it is  the word 'Der_KeenRunner'. Hope everyone like this one.

How to get there?
Via Federal Highway / From KL
Follow the highway signs and head towards Klang, until you come to the 1st toll (Batu Tiga Toll).
After the toll, continue straight towards Klang until you reach the Sg Rasau toll (approx 10km from Batu Tiga Toll).
Once you cross the Sg Rasau toll, exit to your left and you will come to a traffic light. Turn right at the traffic light. (Landmark: MBB building).
After turning right, you will see Jaya Jusco Bukit Raja and Esso Petrol Station on your left. Continue straight until you come to another toll (Shapadu toll).
Immediately after the toll, exit to your left and follow the Jalan Meru sign. Ramp down and you will come to a traffic light.
Turn right at the traffic light and go straight for approximately 2km
You will see Setia Alam/KLIA signboard on your left. Take the flyover & follow the Setia Alam signage.
Continue straight, you will come to the 1st interchage (Persimpangan Setia Alam Barat).
Drive straight until you approach the 2nd interchange (Persimpangan Setia Alam Timur). Take the 2nd interchange & make a U-turn.
The Setia Alam Welcome Centre is located on your left.

Via NKVE
Enter the NKVE from Duta Toll / Damansara Toll / Subang Toll / Seafield Toll and head towards Klang (Utara).
Continue driving until KM3.3 where you exit at the PERSIMPANGAN SETIA ALAM (EXIT 102) on your left
After the Setia Alam Toll Plaza, you will see "Selamat datang ke Setia Alam & Setia Eco Park" signage. Continue driving, passing Setia Eco Park on your right and Persimpangan Setia Alam Timur (1st interchange).
Go straight, Setia Alam Welcome Centre is located on your left.

6-12 HOURS COMPASS NAVIGATION - ATTEMPT TO BREAKING MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS
Rogaining is the sport of long distance cross-country navigation in which teams of two to four members visit as many checkpoints as possible in twenty-four hours. Teams travel entirely on foot, navigating by map and compass between checkpoints in terrain that varies from open farmland to hilly forest. A central base camp provides hot meals throughout the event and teams may return at any time to eat, rest or sleep.
Teams travel at their own pace and anyone from children to grandparents can experience the personal satisfaction that comes from cross-country navigation at their own level of competition and comfort. One feature of rogaining is the opportunity for night navigation and the extra challenges that this involves. Although rogaines are defined as being twelve hours or longer, the classic rogaine is the twenty-four hour event.
