The “Run for Peace” run is a non-competitive event to create an awareness of a peaceful and healthy existence in our multi-racial society. The event has been held every two years since 2005.
In response to SGI President Ikeda’s call on creating a “Culture of Peace”, a concept that rejects violence and conflicts by having dialogues between individuals, groups and countries, this event strives to create awareness and understanding of the importance of developing a culture of peace within ourselves and our community.
SGI President Ikeda states : “The SGI's activities are based on the conviction that a change in the inner lives of individual human beings must be at the heart of building a culture of peace. And we are convinced that open-minded dialogue, however inconspicuous the initial results, is the best and most effective catalyst for such”
